COJ TO COMMEMORATE PURPLE HEART DAY ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 7, 2026
The City of Jacksonville will commemorate Purple Heart Day on Friday, August 7, 2026, with a heartfelt ceremony dedicated to the brave men and women who were wounded or made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.
The ceremony will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. at the Duval County Veterans Memorial Wall, a revered landmark honoring over 1,700 Jacksonville-area service members. This year's event will feature opening remarks from Mayor Donna Deegan, reflecting the city’s commitment to honoring its military heroes.
The evening will also feature a musical tribute from Navy Band Southeast, followed by the annual Purple Heart Trail Walk, a reflective procession symbolizing unity, remembrance, and resilience.
Residents, veterans, families, and supporters are encouraged to attend and show their gratitude to the recipients of the Purple Heart Medal.
There will be free parking in Lot P.
